After years of never feeling enough for others and repeating toxic behaviors, she observed where her emotional pain was really coming from and how anxiety was detrimental to her relationships. Rewriting her own personal story led her to coach clients on their journey to restore health and emotional wellness by addressing their personal health challenges and fulfill their long-term goals to live their best lives. Sela is a proud daughter and dog mom. She lives in the beautiful suburbs of Chicago, IL.

Rewriting My Story

Ever since middle school, I felt like a background character, invisible, and never chosen. I deeply disliked my appearance and even my personality at times. Nights when I was all alone and not with my big group of friends, I would cry for hours on the bathroom floor saying ugly things about how I looked and acted around them. I hated my frizzy hair, my big nose, my acne, my glasses, and how I felt I was too quiet and not noticeable enough to others.

One day, I realized how tired I was of looking in the mirror and wishing that someone would pick me and give me all the validation in the world so that I would feel seen and loved. I decided that I needed to be better for myself. And deep down I knew that it was ultimately up to me. I realized that someone could try all they want to save me from my insecurities, but it never worked. I looked for external validation, but it was never actually about them not choosing me, it was about me not choosing myself.

I learned that the solution wasn’t about indulging in casual intimacy hoping that someone would stay and hold me, and that the problem wasn’t that there was something wrong with me. The solution was actually in my own hands. I noticed how I had control over all my struggles. I started treating myself how I would want someone else to even when it felt uncomfortable. The phrase “fake it till you make it”, resonates a lot in my journey towards confidence and becoming the main character in my story. Stepping into that uncomfortable place ultimately let me begin healing and rewriting my story.

What I love now is that I trust myself. I’ve reworked the foundation of my self respect and beliefs. I have a great relationship with my body, mind, and soul. I no longer struggle with the rollercoaster of conflicting emotions and self hatred. Prioritizing my needs has greatly improved my friendships and relationships, especially the relationship with myself. This is how I was able to find emotional freedom, and how others can too.
